Function Notes: - Engaged and Bound himself to go to Detroit and there as a Sailor to Serve and abide for the Space and term or Two Years from the day and date when he shall Arrive at Detroit and from thence fully to be Complete and Ended and to Sail in said Capacity on board of any Vessel under the Directions of Messieurs Lieth and Shepherd - to Serve on board and Navigate during the Navigable Season as a Sailor as aforesaid on lake Erie to do and perform all such Service on board and in the Winter Season to Serve on such other Capacity as they the said Lieth and Shepherd or such person or persons shall there represent their person shall direct and appoint and think fit to employ him in

Contract Notes: - Promise and agree that they shall and will find and Provide unto the said Alexander Adams such Meat and Drink as is Usual and Customary in those places [But no Rum or any Strong liquor] - and also well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said Alexander Adams the Sum of Two pounds Quebec Currency Monthly and every Month during the Term aforesaid the day of his arrival at Detroit as aforesaid - And the said Alexander Adams Acknowledged to have received of the said Thomas Forsyth the Sum of four pounds in advance of his wages
