- - the Sum of Seventy pounds Sterling Money of Great Britain Yearly and every Year during the said term, which said Sum the said McTavish Frobisher & Co did and hereby do Bind and Oblige themselves any or either of them their Executors Administrators and Assigns to pay or Cause to be paid unto the said John Bennett his Executors Administrators or Assigns at the Expiration of every Twelve Months in a Bill of Exchange on London either for the whole sum of Seventy pounds aforesaid or such Ballance as then shall be due to him
- Also to find and provide for the said John Bennett during the said Term Meat Drink and all other Necessaries [except Clothing] as is Customary in the said North West Trade
- And at the Expiration of the said term to pay his said Salary at the rate abovesaid until his return at Montreal
- Provided Nevertheless that if the said North West Company at the Expiration of the first Year should not be Satisfied with the Capacity and Conduct of the said John Bennett, It shall be lawfull to & for them the said North West Company to discharge him from their Service in which Case the said John Bennett shall only be intitled and receive the payment of his Salary at the rate of Sixty pounds Sterling per Annum until his return at Montréal, they the said McTavish Frobisher and Compy finding him a passage to England for thus the said parties have agreed upon and is the true intent and Meaning of these presents
