- Custodial History

- Scope and Content (English)
- Anxiety began again today - Bruce gave his testimony - against Lepine - he did all he could to incriminate him - Bruce is a wicked man - the judge always appeared badly disposed - the affair is going to be drawn out for a long time - the government is expecting about 60 police these days - mounted - all seems calculated to create pressure - no news from Ottawa - we expect some this evening - the Metis with the resolutions ought to be back; perhaps we will have a telegram of the result the meeting has caused; they have uncovered this morning one of Clarke's letters which reveals his plans - the letter is in good hands; it says - In a few weeks I will have nothing more to do in Manitoba - I realize my [ ]; I will soon have on hand 7,000 piastres - I have sent you 6,000 - I am going to arrange a misunderstanding with Royal to concern the government then I will give my resignation - count on it my dear for the anniversary of the 15th Dec. of the first night I slept with you in Winnipeg; we will glide along on happy days -; what do you think of that, this man of the gov't of Manitoba; tear this paper to pieces; remember the words only, there will be before long public infamy on Clarke.
