- Un commentaire de Raymond Dauvin : "939--Dipper Rapids on the Churchill River near Patuanak (English River-->Rivière aux Anglais). The story of Father Moraud and his unexpected and dangerous canoe ride down the Dipper Rapids of the Churchill River. Quote; "Father Moraud is the one man known to have survived a trip down the rapids in a canoe. As the story goes, Father Moraud and four other men were travelling downstream to Dipper Lake with a load of lumber in a freighter canoe. When they reached Dipper Rapids, the four men accompanying the priest were able to disembark at the portage. However, before Father Moraud could do so, the heavily laden canoe was swept out into the current and down the rapids. Miraculously, Father Moraud, standing in the front of the canoe like a doomed sentinel, survived what must have been a most incredible ride. When the anxious companions rushed to the foot of the rapids, they found that, while the canoe's motor had been lost, the priest, the canoe, and its lumber cargo were all intact." end of quote. From "Canoeing the Churchill A Practical Guide to the Historic Voyageur Highway" by Greg Marchildon and Sid Robinson---published by the Canadian Plains Research Center University of Regina Regina, Saskatchewan 2002."
