- Le traitement des archives des Oblats de Marie-Immaculée Province oblate du Manitoba/Délégation a été possible grâce à une subvention du Conseil destiné aux subventions du patrimoine de Culture, Patrimoine, Tourisme et Sports Manitoba pour 2020-2021. Les enregistrements audios ont été identifiés dans le fonds par Gilles Lesage en 2020 et traités par Sarah Story de mars à juin 2021. - Il s’agit d’un enregistrement sonore du Chef Harold Cardinal qui parle lors d’un rassemblement. Il répond à des questions qui touchent des sujets tels que les cérémonies et traditions autochtones, la religion catholique et la réconciliation.
- 00:00:00 – Harold parle du Père, expliquant que l’une des leçons principales du Christ est l’importance du Père. Il mentionne aussi la danse du Soleil, ainsi qu’une cérémonie de purification.
- 00:04:59 – Harold parle du fait qu’il ne serait pas l’homme qu’il est sans les leçons qu’il a reçu des aînés, des années de prière de sa mère et de son père, l’amour des autres et toutes les expériences qu’il a vécues.

- Scope and Content (English)
- This recording consists of Chief Harold Cardinal speaking during a gathering. He is answering questions about subjects such as indigenous ceremonies and traditions, Catholicism and reconciliation.
- 00:00:00 – Harold speaks about the Father and explains that one of the principal teachings of Christ is the importance of the Father. He also mentions the Sundance and a cleansing ceremony.
- 00:04:59 – Harold explains that he would not be the man that he is without years of prayers from his mother and father, the teachings that he had received from the Elders, the experiences he encountered and the understanding and love from others.
- 00:09:59 – Following a question about Father John [Haskel?] using a peace pipe during mass, Harold explains the importance and the need of understanding the laws and the rules for ceremonies and rituals. Harold also used the peace pipe as an example.
- 00:16:56 – An unidentified catholic priest, who worked amongst the indigenous peoples, mentions Harold’s conversion. He also mentions that we all need one another.
- 00:21:02 – An unidentified man speaks about how the Christians took best of each culture and put them together with the teachings of God. He continues by saying that rather than figuring how to bend cultures, we should be looking at how a culture fits into the word of God and mold each aspect of the cultures together under it.
- 00:24:34 – A man named Felix argues that Indigenous culture is based on the bible. Harold continues by speaking about the cross and about Christ.
- 00:38:52 – An unidentified woman reads a [bible?] verse for Felix. Afterwards, an unidentified man mentions that Indigenous traditions have existed for generations.
- 00:40:56 – Harold talks about the need for reconciliation. He also mentions that there can be no reconciliation without understanding.
- 00:51:21 – Harold speaks about the Blessed Mother and explains that the Elders taught him to pray to the Father before the Mother.
