Dear Sir, Yesterday the 23d July we have Learned you was arrived. The inhabitants of St Vital have immediately held a meeting at Andre Neault's Esq. to congratulate you on your arrival, to bid you a hearty welcome, to acknowledge your manly stand in the house of commons, your successes, as well as what you have done for the country in general, and for the Metis population of the Province. Sir, it is true we do not belong to your district of Marquette. But we are strangers to none of those who voted for you having the same interests, in working for them; you have worked for us. Our land question which you have so fairly liberated from a wrong explanation is one of great importance. And we do acknowledge your services. In devoting your energy to the cause of the Métis children you have earned the general approval of the Metis heads of families; because you have worked according the spirit at the full signification of the 31 clause of the Manitoba treaty, we call a treaty the Manitoba act.
